Driving licence, road tax & PUSPAKOM, simplified
A plain-English guide to JPJ's most common driver services, with official links and current fees
What do you need to do?
Road tax renewal
Renew online or in person - here's what you need
Road tax can be renewed up to 2 months before it expires. You must have valid motor insurance first - renewal is not possible without it.
Renew online
The fastest option for most people. Choose digital road tax (free, shown in the MyJPJ app) or a physical sticker (~RM10 delivery fee).
What you'll need
Vehicle registration number, IC number, valid motor insurance certificate, payment card or online banking
Renew in person
Available at JPJ branches, Pos Malaysia outlets, UTC (Urban Transformation Centre) and self-service kiosks. Bring your IC and insurance certificate.
Driving licence renewal
CDL (Competent Driving Licence) renewal for most drivers
Most licence holders renew a Competent Driving Licence (CDL), valid from 1 up to 10 years per renewal for citizens (up to 5 years for non-citizens). The expiry date is fixed to your birthday.
Fees (per year)
Class A/A1: RM 2/year · Class B, B2, C: RM 20/year · Class D and above: RM 30/year (non-citizens: flat RM 120 for most classes)
Where to renew
Online via MySIKAP portal or MyJPJ app, or in person at JPJ branches, UTC, 1JPJ counters, Pos Malaysia outlets or self-service kiosks
If your licence expired more than 3 years ago, it's cancelled and you'll need to reapply from scratch (retake tests).
