Many TnG services require a Malaysian number. Get a SIM or eSIM easily.
๐ฑ TnG Travel eSIM
Buy an eSIM for 190+ countries inside the TnG eWallet app (GOtravel โ Travel eSIM). Data-only, no Malaysian number. Good for connectivity before you get a local SIM.
Since May 2026, TnG eWallet also offers Eastel โ a real Malaysian mobile line (MVNO on U Mobile's 4G/5G network) with a +60 number, not just travel data. Works for banking, Grab and WhatsApp OTPs. Physical SIM or eSIM, new number or number transfer (MNP). Passport + facial verification required; if it fails in-app, visit the Eastel store at KL Eco City.

From May 2025, TnG allows registration with phone numbers from 9 ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Brunei) via WhatsApp OTP - no Malaysian SIM needed.
โ ๏ธ As of February 2026, physical tourist SIMs in Malaysia require facial recognition and a hotel address at point of sale, and expire after 3 months.
